I really wasn’t sure if there would be anything new in this book. I’ve read some good stuff on James’s blog so thought I’d give the book a chance.

I tend to have a number of books on the go so like to be able to switch easily. The style James has used is conducive to that approach as he works through the details of one practice at a time. Ideal for train journeys.

Beyond the structure this is not just another process book. This is full of advice borne out of experience of making XP work.

For me one of the real gems in the book is his coverage of how teams can plan in both slack and personal development time and how this is beneficial to both the organisation and the project.
